Martinsville, VA – Across the Henry County School District, schools have been improving safety procedures for the upcoming school year. Throughout the county, all doors to a school are locked during the day except for the front entrance. Clearview Early Childhood Center will have double doors at the front entrance when construction is finished, like the other schools in the area. The outer doors are unlocked, but the inner doors remain locked unless a visitor is buzzed in by the front office staff. Schools in the city of Martinsville have also installed the Ident-A-Kid Visitor Management software, which reviews a person’s information, obtained by scanning their state ID or license, and runs it through the national sex offender registry. If a visitor is there to pick up a child, the office staff runs their name through the database to make sure they’re on both the approved list and someone the parents have authorized to pick their child up.
